You can define single or multiple warranties for a specified service object depending on the levels of service that are required; for instance, a photocopier may need different warranties depending on the make and usage, and the estimated service hours.
The warranty type definition in combination with the debit code controls the posting to Financials, as well as creating warranty claim records.
When the warranty information is updated the Service object history log is also updated.
In the following steps, you will define the type of warranty, the warranty duration (for this example a 12-month period is used), and the start of the warranty.
- Select the Work with service objects menu item.
- On the initial panel, select the applicable object and click Warranty.
- You access Work with service objects, Warranty information. Click Add.
- On the detail panel, complete the following fields:
- Warranty type
- Enter a warranty type from the Warranty type table.
- Warranty start date
- Enter the date from which the warranty begins.
- Duration
- Enter the duration of the warranty in months. Note: If you do not enter a value (in months) in this field the duration is retrieved from the Warranty type table.
- Warrenty end date
- If the end date is left blank it is calculated using the duration information. The field is updated automatically by the system after you click OK.
Click OK to update. Exit the routine.
After this procedure, the service object will require a preventive service, which will help to maximise service efficiency and reduce engineer call-out time.
