The restriction groups are used in the work centre capacity maintenance and in the manufacturing order planning (create/re-schedule manufacturing orders) to control if the date is valid for planning a specific product.
For each workload restriction group several sequences can be defined. Each sequence defines either one specific value or an interval of field type values that should be compared to the corresponding values on the manufacturing order. In order for workload to be planned for a manufacturing order, the specified restriction values must match the values on the manufacturing order parent item or operation.
During the control, the sequence with the lowest number is checked first. If needed, you can specify additional restrictions to be used in conjunction with the first restriction. If the criteria defined in the first set of restrictions do not apply to the manufacturing order, the system will automatically pass on to the next set until a match is made.
If none of the defined restrictions match the manufacturing order in question, the work centre may not be used for that order.
Note: The restriction group can only be used for work centres defined as critical resources.
- Select the Workload restrictions menu item.
- You access Work with workload restriction. Click Add to create a new workload restriction group.
- You access Workload restriction maintenance. Complete the following fields:
- Restriction group
- Enter a group ID for the workload restriction group.
- Description
- Enter a description of the workload restriction group.
- On Work with workload restriction, select the workload restriction group and click Details.
- You access Work with workload restriction – Details. Click Add.
- You access Workload restriction maintenance – Details where you define the sequences that define either one specific value or an interval of field type values that should be compared to the corresponding values on the manufacturing order. Complete the following fields:
- Sequence number
- Enter a number indicating in what order the restrictions in this restriction group should be compared against the manufacturing order. The sequence with the lowest number will be checked first.
- And/Or
- This field is not mandatory for the first sequence. Enter a value indicating if, and in that case how, this sequence should be related to the other sequences in the group. You have the following options:
- Leave this field blank. This is only valid for the first sequence.
- Enter AND to specify additional restrictions to be used in conjunction with the first restriction. All restriction criteria defined in the restrictions combined through the value AND must be fulfilled in order for workload to be created for the manufacturing order.
- Enter OR to specify another set of restrictions within the group. The sequence defined with value OR will be regarded as the first sequence in the additional set. This additional set will only be used if the criteria defined in the first set of restrictions do not apply to the manufacturing order. If several additional sets are defined, the system will search through the sets in numerical order until a match is made.
- Field type
- This field, in combination with From id and To id, defines what values should be compared to the corresponding values on the manufacturing order. Depending on the selected field type, values from either the parent item or the operation will be checked. Enter one of the following valid field types:
- From id
- This field, in combination with Field type and To id, defines what values should be compared to the corresponding values on the manufacturing order. From the selected field type you can define a specific field value or a value interval:
- To define a specific field value that should be checked, enter a value in this field.
- To define an interval of values that should be checked, enter the first interval value in this field and the last value in To id.
- Note: The field values must exist in the corresponding table maintenance program for the field type specified in Field type.
- To id
- This field, in combination with Field type and From id, defines what values should be compared to the corresponding values on the manufacturing order. This field is only used when you define a field value interval. Enter a field value belonging to the field type specified in Field type, denoting the last interval value to be checked in the restriction control.
- Click Add to add more sequences to the group.
- Click Re-number sequence to renumber the group sequences in intervals of 10.
Click OK to add the the new workload restriction group. Click Back to return to the previous panel.

Click OK. The new record is added to your workload restriction group. Continue to add sequences until the restriction is complete.
When all sequences have been added to your workload restriction group, click Back to return to Work with workload restriction – Details.
The Work with workload restriction – Details panel displays all the sequences that have been added to your workload restriction group. The And/Or field displays the relationship between the sequences. You have several options on this panel. You can:
