The periodical stock valuation process provides functionality through the Inventory transaction enquiry for an accurate reconciliation between Distribution and Financials. All stock events that are generated in Distribution that affect the stock value but not the stock quantity, such as item cost changes, are logged in the Inventory transaction file. The transactions are retrieved per accounting period and updated in the transaction balances. The stock balances are stored in the balance files in the Business Information Warehouse (BIW).
Note: Differences may appear between Distribution and Financials in the stock valuation if the Currency table is set up with different number of decimals for amount and cost respectively.
See Stock valuation – technical description for a detailed technical description of the process.
