The re-planning routine recalculates dispatch dates for all selected sales orders according to the current inventory situation.
Future sales orders that you want to re-plan are determined by the requested dispatch date. The orders that are not included in the re-planning are not affected, and thus any reserved items for these orders are saved. Note: When the Dispatch code for an order is set to 3 (partial line delivery allowed) sales order re-planning will reschedule this line as long as there is stock available.
The recalculating function ensures that the goods will be delivered as soon as possible. Backorders, however, for those orders can be handled. An additional control is made for those sales orders selected for the recalculation. This control is the Requested dispatch time field on the sales order line. The dispatch time of the sales order will not be moved to earlier than the requested dispatch time.
Note: Items included on any order lines that are not under time axis control will never be included in the re-planning function.
The re-planning routine can be used when:
- returns from customer have arrived which give the possibility to deliver these items, which are needed in another sales order, earlier.
- a purchase order has been reconfirmed to be expected to arrive earlier or later. The replanning routine can then be performed for this unique purchase order and thereby change the dispatch date for all sales order lines containing these items.
All sales order lines can be re-planned before the pick list has been printed.
For those sales orders that customers wish to have delivered at a later time you can enter a specific sales order type for these orders. It is important that you do not include any of these sales order types in the re-planning routine. However, back orders for these orders can be handled by a separate selection in this re-planning routine. Note: The re-planning routine will not move any orders to be delivered before the requested dispatch date. The requested dispatch date in the Sales order line file is calculated from the requested delivery date.
Note: Orders that have been held due to sales restrictions will need to be released before they may be processed for re-planning.
MDC orders
If a sales order line of type MDC is re-planned, the corresponding purchase order line in the demanding company will automatically be updated with a new arrival time. This arrival time will be the dispatch time of the re-planned sales order line in the current company plus the transport time of the MDC supplier (defined in the demanding company).
Date adjustment orders
When a sales order line that belongs to a date adjustment order is re-planned to an earlier dispatch date, the system will search this sales order for item/warehouse combinations that are not included in the original selection. Any found item/warehouse combination on this order will be added to the re-planning even though that item/warehouse combination was not selected from the beginning. The reason for this is to assure the earliest possible dispatch date for the whole date adjustment order.
For example, if one out of three items on the sales order is not available until later, all lines will be moved to a later dispatch date. However, if the item that caused the later dispatch for some reason becomes available earlier than expected and is selected for sales order re-planning, the order would not be dispatched earlier unless all items on the order were selected for re-planning.
Printing a list
If desired, a list of all selected lines or only those that are to be re-planned can be printed. It is also possible to perform a trial run, whereby a control list can be printed without updating any information.
The following lists could be printed:
List | Description |
---|---|
Sales order re-planning | This is the normal list, which is printed regardless of whether it is a structure. |
Structure lines dispatch time from re-plan | If any structure lines are included on the normal list, these can be re-planned again. If any critical components exist, delivery can only take place when all lines can be delivered together. The dispatch time is decided from the first available dispatch time of the critical component. If several critical components exist, the dispatch time is decided from the critical component with the latest dispatch time. |
Second re-plan after structure change | If any order lines can be delivered earlier than expected because of dispatch time changes made after re-planning of structure lines (see second list above), these can be re-planned again. |
For sales order lines in an order with complete delivery, one extra list is printed when the Adjust complete del field has been set to YES. The list displays all orders that have been re-planned because of the complete delivery requirement. All lines on a complete delivery order are moved to the latest dispatch time of any order line within the order.
