On this panel you can create a preferred pick unit definition for use in Warehouse Management.
Your item may be packed in different units; one outer box of six, which are then packed in an inner box of two. This function enables you to identify the various package types for the item/location type combination in order to pick the best package to cover the ordered quantity. Tip: Access the Location balance details panel in the Warehouse location enquiry program to view the item balance in the different pick units.

- Item
- Displays the item you are maintaining and its description.
- Type
- This column lists the location types defined in Work with warehouse location types. Each of the listed location types contains the units that have been defined for the item on the Units panel in the Item file and the different package types.
- Pick
- Indicates if a pick unit is attached to this item/location type combination. This is the preferred pick unit to be used for pick suggestions and location replenishment suggestions from a location with the defined location type. If Manufacturing is installed and activated, then this unit is also used for kitting lists.
- Put away
- Indicates if a put away unit is attached to this item/location type combination. This is the preferred put away unit for a location defined with this location type. It is used when receiving goods, during line reception, in the put away suggestion printout (reception note) routine and during the put away from bulk and location replenishment routines.
- Stock count
- Indicates if a stock count unit is attached to this item/location type combination. This is the preferred stock count unit to be used in the stock take list printout routine and is defaulted as counting unit for locations having the specified location type.
