Setting up the route restriction functionality

This functionality gives you the possibility to restrict items from being delivered on specific routes. This is done via the creation of Route restriction groups. A route restriction group can hold one or more items. You create the restriction group, and specifiy the route group type denoting if the restriction is for a route defined for delivery of Narcotic related items only, or a Combined delivery (i.e. all kinds of goods may be included in the route dispatch). You then attach the items to the route restriction group. Attached items can be viewed from Item enquiry, and Route restriction groups are printed on the Item list. Restriction groups can then be attached on different levels.

This functionality requires that the following is set up:

File/Table To do
Route restriction groups Add the groups, assigning a group id and description and complete the following fields:

    Active
Set this flag to YES to active the route restriction group.
    Group type
Enter the type denoting for what kinds of items this restriction group applies. The following panel value codes are valid: N= Narcotic related items; V = Combined (i.e. all kinds of items may be included in the route dispatch).
Work with items Attach the items to a route restriction group. On the Basic data panel, click the Route restrictions function key. On the Item file maintenance, Route restrictions panel highlight the applicable route restriction group and click the Attach option to attach the group to the item.
Attach the route restriction group to the applicable level. Since a route list and outbound shipment can automatically be created from a route, it is advantageous to set up the route restriction functionality on the route since the route list and outbound shipment will automatically inherit any route restriction information set up on the route. If you choose to manually create a route list, or an outbound shipment, the restriction can be applied on those below-mentioned levels.
Routes
  • Route level only. This means that the restriction will also apply for all destinations and customers for that route.
  • Route/Destination level. This means that the restriction will also apply for all customers for that destination.
  • Route/Customer level.
Work with route lists
  • Route list level only. This means that the restriction will also apply for all destinations and customers for that route list.
