This panel displays a list of all defined item/location size relationships per unit of measure from Work with warehouse location sizes. You can view all location sizes, or only active, or non-active for the item by setting the Active field to the applicable setting.
Selection fields

Item file enquiry, Location size (WMR10904)
This panel displays the valid orientation and stock capacity for the Item/Unit of measure/Location size. The Stock capacity amount per orientation (depicted in the 6 columns on the bottom of the panel) is automatically calculated per stock unit.
The output fields in the middle of the panel depict how you can store the item in the location according to the valid orientation (rotation):
- Location width, depth, height: These are the actual values defined in Work with warehouse location sizes. They are the location measurements used to calculate the valid stock capacities according to the different orientation.
- Location dimension 1-3: These are the actual dimensions for the item/unit of measure (and selected location size). These figures are calculated together with the location measurements to indicate how many items (stock capacity) are allowed in the location. You use the Select fields on the bottom of the panel to select which orientation you want to be valid.
If an asterisk (*) exists in a field adjacent to the Select field (on the bottom of the panel), this means that this orientation was selected (and valid) in the corresponding maintenance program. The Stock capacity field will contain the stock capacity for the orientation selected. You can always change the stock capacity in the corresponding maintenance program.
The location and item in this example have the following measures:
Location values | Dimensions |
Location width = 180 | Dimension 1 = 40 |
Location depth = 100 | Dimension 2 = 50 |
Location height = 150 | Dimension 3 = 20 |
The system has calculated the following capacity values for the item in this location:
Select | * | _ | _ | _ | _ | _ |
Width | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 3 | 3 |
Depth | 2 | 3 | 1 | 3 | 1 | 2 |
Height | 3 | 2 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 1 |
Valid | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y |
St cap | 56 | 60 | 42 | 45 | 54 | 54 |
The first column depicts the following item measurements:
Width = 40, Depth = 50, Height = 20
(If this item were a box, then these first column measurements are when the box is lying down).
The second column depicts the following item measurements:
Width = 40, Depth = 20, Height = 50
(If this item were a box, then it would be standing up).
Note: The figures in the six columns for Width, Depth and Height are system defined, allowing you to have multiple orientations.
- Location size
- Displays the location size selected.
- Stock capacity
- Displays the maximum quantity of this item that can be stored in a location defined with this location size. The stock capacity will be used for replenishments, put away, etc. It is possible to put a quantity which exceeds the maximum into a location, but it will never be suggested by Warehouse Management.
Note: It is important that this quantity be kept accurate as statistical fields in Work with warehouse locations are updated. For example, the Free capacity (available free space) in a location will be determined by the quantity in this field. Other statistical fields updated in that program are the Utilised capacity % and Allocated capacity % (which are factors used in calculating the Average utilisation location % and Average utilisation reserved %).
If the stock capacity is changed, then the utilised capacity for all locations where this item exists will be automatically updated.
- Preferred capacity
- Displays the maximum desired quantity of this item that should be suggested for put away to locations of this size. The preferred capacity is used for goods reception put away.
Note: It is possible to put a quantity that exceeds the preferred quantity into a location, but it will never be suggested by Warehouse Management. The preferred capacity can never exceed the stock capacity.
If this field is blank, it is assumed that the preferred capacity is the same as the stock capacity.
- Pallet type
- Only shown if the default pallet type is assigned for the item and this pallet type is assigned to the actual location size. Displays the default pallet type to be used when pallets are automatically created.
- Quantity in pallet
- Only shown if the default pallet type is assigned for the item and this pallet type is assigned to the actual location size. Displays the number of stock units in the default pallet.
- Pallet capacity
- Only shown if the default pallet type is assigned for the item and this pallet type is assigned to the actual location size. Displays the pallet capacity from pallet type/location size assignments.
- Stock unit capacity
- Only shown if the default pallet type is assigned for the item and this pallet type is assigned to the actual location size. Displays the calculated capacity in stock units based on pallet definitions.
- Select
- Displays an asterisk (*) above the orientation, if selected, and which is valid for this Item/Unit of measure/Location size.
