Run functions via Program function key handling

Related topics

The routines for which Program function key handling has been implemented are characterised by the dedicated Fnc list F-key button (assigned F-key is F10) or the More functions icon (>>), which are used to access a list of the available program functions. All functions (standard and additional) that are applicable for a panel are also available from the Main menu bar (Functions).

The following describes the different ways in which you can run the functions:

  1. Access a routine that you are familiar with and where Program function key handling has been implemented. You have several access points to choose from depending on the program:
    1. Press F10 on your keyboard or click the Fnc list button. You access the Program function selection panel showing the functions that are available in the specific program. From this panel, you have access to all applicable functions, regardless of whether an F-key has been assigned or not, or if it is a standard function. If an F-key is assigned to the function, it will be shown to the right of the key description (under the F-key column). If a button has been created for the F-key, you will also see the button for the assigned function key at the bottom of the panel from where you accessed the function list.
    2. To run a function from the Program function selection window, you can do either of the following:

      • double-click on the function,
      • mark the function and click Select, or
      • enter the function’s sequence number in the Fnc input field and click OK.
    3. Click the More functions icon (>>). You access a list of additional functions.
    4. To run a function from the More functions list, just click on the function.

    5. Use your keyboard.
    6. To run a function to which an F-key is assigned directly from your keyboard, simply press the assigned F-key, e.g. F8.

  2. Depending on the function you selected, you will either access the applicable program for the function, or return to the calling program and the system will run the function.
