Define a credit stop code

Related topics

A credit stop code controls if you are allowed to sell to a customer whose debtor has a certain credit stop code, if the sales order is to be held, and if the terms of payment code is to be changed. A text message or an alert can also be sent to the message handler during order entry if the debtor exceeds their credit limit. See Assign a message handler to a credit stop code for details.

  1. Select the Work with credit stop codes menu item.
  2. On the main panel, click Add.
  3. You access the detail panel. On this panel you specify the details that should apply when a credit check is done for an order with this particular credit stop code. The following fields are mandatory:
  4. Credit stop code
Enter a code to identify the credit stop code.
    Description
Enter a description of the credit stop code.
    Hold order
Indicate if sales orders are to be automatically held due to this credit stop code. If you set this field to YES, then the Hold order and Credit hold fields on the order header are set to YES.
Note: If you maintain the sales order after you have released it, it will not be automatically held again. This differs from the handling of a credit stop of orders due to the credit limit. See About holding/releasing sales orders and order lines for instructions on how to release an order/line that is being held.
    Maintain sales allow
Indicate if it should be allowed to maintain sales orders that are entered for a customer whose debtor is defined with this credit stop code.
    Sales allowed
Indicate if sales are allowed at all, to customers whose debtors are defined with this credit stop code.
Note: If you set any of the above two fields to NO, then you must enter a text in the Warning text field on this panel.
    Terms of payment
Enter a code from Work with terms of payment if you want this code to be automatically set on the sales order/quotation. If you leave the field blank, then the terms of payment will be retrieved from the Business partner file for the debtor, as usual.
Note: The terms of payment entered in this field will only be retrieved once, i.e. when the sales order is first created. If you change the terms of payment manually on the sales order header, then the sales order will keep this manually entered terms of payment code.
    Write log
Indicate if you want the system to create a log record for any credit check action that is taken for a debtor defined with this credit stop code.

Actions

In the second part of this panel, three sub-sections exist. These represent the levels on which you can specify the type of action that should be performed when a credit check is done:

  • Order header level
  • Order line level
  • Pick list level

On each level you indicate the type of action that should be performed when the debtor’s credit limit is exceeded and/or when the debtor has overdue payments/invoice amounts. See Credit stop code actions for details.

Click OK. Exit the routine.
